Celebrating Love and Union

“I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.” Song of Songs 6:3

Weddings and Aufrufs (pre-wedding honours) are joyous occasions that celebrate the love and commitment of a couple. Our clergy provide support and guidance to help couples create a meaningful and beautiful ceremony.

Rabbi Cohen can help you prepare for this wonderful, joyous occasion by teaching engaged couples the meaning of the traditional ceremony, from Ketubah (marriage document) to Kiddushin (Engagement), from Chuppah (Marriage Canopy) to Nissuin (marriage ceremony) to breaking the glass.

Personalized Ceremony:
We work with couples and families to design a wedding ceremony that reflects their unique love story, incorporating traditional Jewish rituals and personal touches. Our Cantor, Paula Baruch, enhances your wedding with traditional wedding melodies and chant.

Premarital Counseling:
Our clergy offer counselling sessions to help couples prepare for their life together, offering Jewish wisdom in preparation for a life dedicated to love and companionship, discussing important topics and strengthening their relationship.

Aufruf Blessing:
Literally “calling up” in Yiddish, an Aufruf is the custom of a couple being called to the Torah for an Aliyah, the recitation of a blessing over the Torah. Aufrufs traditionally take place on the Shabbat before the wedding ceremony. We invite couples to make the choice to come with their families and friends to receive special blessings and the community’s support. Following the service, we encourage families to celebrate with a Kiddush luncheon, sharing the joy with our community.
