Leadership Opportunities at TAS
How can I volunteer at TAS?
Thank you for your interest! There are lots of ways to volunteer depending on your interests and time to spare.
To start, please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form, found HERE. Alternatively, speak with a Board member before or after Services (they wear name tags) and they will help connect you up.
There are quick one-off opportunities to lend a hand and we have a list we keep in the office for those occasions or you may want a more involved volunteer experience like joining a working group and being part of an ongoing team.
You can find a list of our Working Groups and their Mandates HERE.
Being involved in Temple life enriches one’s life by adding fellowship and friendship and shows us Tikkun Olam in action. Involved members are more satisfied and benefit from deeper connections. By pitching in, you also help the Temple keep expenses down. Please join us!
How can I get involved in Leadership at TAS?
Whether you’re a long-time volunteer or are brand new to Temple, you may feel ready to explore leading in some capacity at TAS. Maybe you’ve served on other Boards of Directors and have governance and fiduciary experience. Or, you’re already on a TAS working group and would like to now Chair it or you’re interested in joining the Board of Trustees but aren’t sure of the process or qualifications necessary to serve in that role? It’s time for a chat with our President, Marla Frank-Davis, to share your thoughts. Helping you put your experience and passion in service to leading our congregation is a true mitzvah.
Leadership Training
Every two years, we conduct our Introduction to Leadership at TAS workshop for new Trustees, Working Group Chairs and their successors and interested members of our congregation. We cover such topics as our Governance Model and how we deal with annual Terms of Reference to stay connected with the work of our working groups.
“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.”
– John C. Maxwell
Leadership at TAS is characterized by a deep understanding and commitment to Reform Jewish values, such as tikkun olam (i.e.healing our world), justice, tzedakah (i.e., charity), inclusivity, diversity, and equity.
Our leaders communicate their mission and vision effectively, and inspire others to share their passion and commitment to achieving TAS’s goals. Leaders ensure that all members of our congregation and spiritual community feel valued and heard.
They hold strong organizational and management skills and the ability to take risks and embrace new ideas. As role models, they build and maintain relationships with members, staff, donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders. They work to enable a culture of innovation while staying true to TAS’s values, principles, and legacy.
